i have in the past week thought about writing "in defense of wireheading", but then i realized i could simply mentally simulate what that post would've looked like

Both pretty mild (but I guess most people didn't do much LD or have hyperfantasia + ablated LLMs) and judgmental to gnostics.

Few points:

1 - The story ends at returning to the mother figure, but didn't go through the full Anima cycle. If you wanted to show the full thing, tackling the Oedipus complex and growing a new anima from Eve could be insightful, but would make it more real and less snideful.

2 - If someone didn't exhaust the hedonic treadmill yet, who are you to say that any orthodox/lila interaction with the world (love/war, art/compression, god/values, death) is better? But I guess you always gotta defend your own status hierarchy. Many gnostic wireheaders would think you are missing out by not joining the experience machine.
